Let It Snow...Let It Snow...Let It Snow!

December 24 evening

December 25 - Christmas morning

December 27 - Still on the ground, but the roads are clear.
Jonathan's new partner, Kirk. He said he wanted to be able to say, "Dammit Jim," whenever he messed up. LOL Jonathan bought the machine embroidered emblem. We raided my stash for the appropriate green. I made Kirk a green bandana fitting of his rank so that when he beams to the surface the aliens know at a glance that he is not a red shirt...and will be returning to the Enterprise.

This Morning

I LOVE IT!! Sam said he thought it started snowing about midnight. Temperatures began below freezing and remained there. I left the house a bit early and made it down the driveway to the blacktop county road. Soft, soft snow with no undercoat of ice. No slipping and sliding for me. I stopped for photos every fraction of a mile. Just took my time. I don't know if you remember this old stump and fence...but my boss, Da Judge, wants two more photos of this scene...Another in the spring...and one in the summer. To go along with this one I took in the fall. She wants prints of them to mat and frame and hang in our office! :-)

We had a small turnout at the courthouse. Some offices didn't open at all. Others closed before lunch. We called around and found that the BBQ place was open so Da Judge went out for chopped beef sandwiches for us. We sat around the desk eating and talking. Did a bit more work. Next thing I knew my red blazer and scarf were tossed on a chair as she said, "We're going home." About mid-afternoon.

I stopped at the grocery store for milk and a few other things. Called girlfriend Earlene and told her the roads were wet but clear and the parking lot at the grocery store was slushy so she wouldn't have any trouble. I think I woke her from her nap! LOL

Tomorrow's Saturday! CARTOON day! ;-)

SNOW Today! Again!!

How amazing is this?! I don't know if we've ever had snow in March before. Just a couple of days ago we had near 70 degrees. Sunday morning we woke to 32 degrees. It didn't get over 34 all day. We also had a dusting of snow which was pretty well melted by 10 a.m. But it kept coming down. The wind was blowing from the west and the snow was coming in sideways!

Snow Report: 7 1/2 inches!

More to follow...we are without electricity and are on a generator now.

The temperature yesterday got up to 37 degrees or so. Most of the snow is off the trees. We slept last night without the generator. Our house is very well insulated. It was 61 inside...29 outside. Not too bad. I heated some water on the stove for tea while Sam got the generator running. Our central heat is gas, so the electricity is needed only to run the blower...doable with a generator. We also have our own well, so need electricity to run the pump. Yeah, LOL, we are roughing it! ;o)

It's SNOWING!

So sorry to those of you who have waaaay more than you ever wanted, but this is only the second dusting I've seen in about 15 years. The first one since moving back to northeast Texas didn't even keep me from going in to my sub job at high school...and was gone before noon. I am going to enjoy this as long as it lasts. The worst part will be first thing in the morning when the roads are frozen and covered with black ice. But us smart people simply stay home. If it's not gone Friday, it will be gone Saturday. When Carol saw my pizza peel, she asked, "Where's mine." Here! Sam is doing better. You can see the improvement between mine on the left and hers on the right. I got my flooring! It has to sit and acclimatize for 72 hours. In the meantime, I have to clean out the floor of my closet...and move out the furniture and 'stuff' in my sewing room. It's gonna be a loooong end of week and weekend.
