Cain's quilt which I quilted on Shirley Anne, my "new Featherweight."  We delivered it today.

Great Aunt Carol holding Cain for the first time.

A field of sunflowers on Highway 82 between Paris and Sherman.

We saw them on the way to Sherman.

Sam was nice and stopped on the way home.
Okay folks. I've seen others complain about photos turning the wrong way.  This is the first time it has happened to me.  I had them in the correct orientation on my computer.  Now you know that I never turn my camera the same way twice., ;-)

New Cutting Table

Isn't it gorgeous?!

I saw a similar cutting table online 3 or so years ago.  But it was larger than I needed and would not fit my space.

Since Sam was building a woodworking shop at the time...I printed the photo for him.

He drafted the pattern, bought some red oak lumber and red oak faced plywood (said he wouldn't work with the plywood again!)

And started it.

It took awhile.

I LOVE IT!

Quilting on My Featherweight

I had a hard time deciding what to buy me from my mother.  Thought about jewelry - a ring specifically because that's what my mother liked the best.  But she gave me her wedding set a few years back and there's no way I can top that beauty.  All of a sudden it hit like a bolt of lightning...A SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT!!!  I've never wanted one before.  Didn't need yet another machine and passed up on a rather inexpensive machine a couple of years back when I called Carol's attention to a pair of them at an antique/junk store.  She picked the best and was so surprised that I didn't get it.

This is the perfect gift for me.  Mama made just about all of my clothes while I was growing up.  She made hers too. When I married in 1971, she gave me her old 1954 electric Singer machine since she was sewing on a Singer Touch 'n' Sew.  I made most of my own clothing, including jeans that FIT.  I learned the love of sewing from her.  Drum roll.......

Carol and I had a naming ceremony and the photos are still stuck on my phone, I haven't figured out how to get them to my computer yet.  eyeroll....
