Newest Kindle Cover

I recently returned from a quilting retreat - COF (Circle of Friends) in Branson MO. Months before the retreat, all participants were send a FQ (fat quarter a piece of fabric approximately 18" x 22") in a beautiful leaf and fern print. If I'm not mistaken the fern is the state plant of Missouri.

The FQ challenge was to make a project, put it in a paper sack, and submit it to be voted on in several categories.

I made a Kindle cover. I didn't even vote for it myself. While I believe it is definitely pretty. And I used almost all the FQ provided. The other projects were so far superior in design that I could not vote for my own.

The next retreat is June 2013 in Harrisburg OH. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend.

Da Judge was given a Kindle Fire for Christmas. She mentioned needing a case and looked at me and said, "Like yours." And she smiled real big. I told her about the different type cases: pouches you put the Kindle in, then remove and had to lay the pouch down or whatever - or a case like a book cover. She said, "Like yours!" I asked her about colors and she said that she's an "autumn" person and the fabrics in the mug rug I made her for Christmas would be just perfect if I had more of them. I did.I told her she would have to stick some velcro on the back of her Kindle with my style case because I don't like the elastic bands holding down the corners because of my keyboard. She looked at her KF and noticed that bands would run across the corner of her screen. The stick-on velcro would be just fine. This is my Kindle and I'm giving it a good shake to show how well the velcro holds.

KIndle Cover

Thanks to Erin, John, and Colt, I have a Kindle. I would love an Oberon cover for it... http://www.oberondesign.com/ ...and a matching purse. Well, maybe not the purse, but I still LOVE the Kindle cover...it may become a reality...just have to decide on the pattern. In the meantime, I've made my own cover. The hardest part was sticking velcro to the back of the brand new Kindle! I did some online research and this is the most secure manner to ...secure the Kindle in the quilted case. Cardboard insertions for protection. Recognize the basic block pattern? Yep! Left over from Isabel's quilt. This block had a problem so I made another for the quilt. Since this is my 'prototype,' I used this block. I still love the colors! So far, I have found only one thing to change. The ponytail elastic needs to be shorter to make a tighter fit around the button. And I'm trying to figure out how to and where to put a pocket for the charger and headphones (when I get them). I will probably just have to make a matching zipper bag to drop in my purse.
