Weekend Highs and Lows

I got to hold babies this weekend!!

Wonder what Colt is dreaming about?

The photos of Isabel are on Sam's camera. He left it with Brook. She's been taking photos with the camera on her phone, but there's an internal spot that shows up on all of her photos. Her provider is going to exchange phones with her, but they have none in stock so she's waiting on a backorder. So Sam left his camera with her.

Holding babies was the definite HIGH of the weekend.

This was the low...
He burned my picture!

Almost home and we drove by...I saw the smoke and cried, "He burned my picture!" Sam said that the stump wasn't burned. Well this morning...sigh...I saw the proof of the dastardly deed.

Froggy Morning

Ducky, You have a great suggestion about a photo of "the" stump on a foggy morning. I'll see what I can do, however it is on a hilltop and I don't recall ever driving through fog. I'll be watching!

This Morning

I LOVE IT!! Sam said he thought it started snowing about midnight. Temperatures began below freezing and remained there. I left the house a bit early and made it down the driveway to the blacktop county road. Soft, soft snow with no undercoat of ice. No slipping and sliding for me. I stopped for photos every fraction of a mile. Just took my time. I don't know if you remember this old stump and fence...but my boss, Da Judge, wants two more photos of this scene...Another in the spring...and one in the summer. To go along with this one I took in the fall. She wants prints of them to mat and frame and hang in our office! :-)

We had a small turnout at the courthouse. Some offices didn't open at all. Others closed before lunch. We called around and found that the BBQ place was open so Da Judge went out for chopped beef sandwiches for us. We sat around the desk eating and talking. Did a bit more work. Next thing I knew my red blazer and scarf were tossed on a chair as she said, "We're going home." About mid-afternoon.

I stopped at the grocery store for milk and a few other things. Called girlfriend Earlene and told her the roads were wet but clear and the parking lot at the grocery store was slushy so she wouldn't have any trouble. I think I woke her from her nap! LOL

Tomorrow's Saturday! CARTOON day! ;-)

The Drive to Work

I don't live that far from the office...about 2 1/2 miles. Yesterday morning as I drove down the driveway I saw the front rolling in.We got 3/4" of rain. We need more. This IS Texas after all!

Yesterday I noticed this bush turning colors. I took the photo this morning.
The dry summer really distressed it. Our Tupelo gum is turning its usual purplish red. Dogwoods are turning red. Hackberries are yellow. Elms are starting to turn too.
I drove through this in the creek bottom.
Do do doo do. Do do doo do. Remember the movie, The Fog?

Stormy Weather

I had to go to the store Saturday for hot dog buns. We did a last minute invite for hot dogs and pool on the Fourth of July. On my way to town, I saw the clouds rolling in from the south. I ran into Brookshires, grabbed the buns, paid for them, and ran back to the car. Hurry...hurry...hurry to get home before it hit. This was the view out our back door. We literally saw the clouds roll in. Guess what. We got just a few sprinkles. Go figure. However, it rained on the Fourth...we still had hot dogs but no pool time.

Monday morning, Sam had to do a pool rescue. I hollered, "WAIT! Let me get the camera." This was a first for us.
Oh...you expect an exercise/diet report? 20 minutes on the treadmill set on 3.5 (I assume mph), 20 minutes on the recumbent bike set on E A S Y. I'm building sets/repetitions on the weight machines. Yesterday I added the elliptical. LOL I don't remember if I made it one or two minutes so anything today is an improvement. Weight loss? I'm throwing my scales out the bathroom window! Oh...can't do that...my windows don't raise. I keep expecting to get on the scales and see 5-10 pound drop...magically...overnight. And I am dieting...not severely but I haven't had dark chocolate much less any milk chocolate in about 6 months now. Yeah...I do tend to exaggerate.

A Tale of Two Freddies

Jonathan's very first friend was Freddie, a gift from a friend. The poor dear is in storage right now, but soon to be released. When 'they' were infants, I would hear Jonathan cooing and gurgling only to peek into his room and see him with his head turned toward Freddie. At 3 months old, they had some extremely serious conversations.
Fast forward 25 years. Here is Freddie the 2nd. I had to lift this photo off Jonathan's MySpace. Jonathan recently adopted him. His name came with him.
While scanning the photo of baby Jonathan in his crib, I scanned a few photos my mother wanted.

This is my cousin (on the right) with his son and grandson. The older gentleman is his former father-in-law. Cousin has maintained an extremely good relationship with the man.
Isn't my niece just precious?! Oh, she is my grand-niece. She is an only child so far, but one of 8 total grand nieces and nephews that I have. This next photo is from about 1945. My mother is the older (approximately 10-years old) of the two girls. The other is her only sister (approximately 6). They married brothers many years later.
Our weather is nasty. We have freeze warnings out for overnight. I don't mind it as long as we don't have to get in the car. The people around here are not used to freezing weather and they drive like idiots. We don't do tire chains. Very little sand is spread except on bridges and overpasses. In other words, if you don't have enough food for a couple of days (cause that's about as long as it is going to last) then you better get there today. Then STAY HOME!
I checked out my bluebonnets while walking down to the mailbox. (That's water drops on them.) I am going to have more than last year. Sam isn't going to be too happy that they are spreading out. What? Me worry? ;o) When they bloom in the spring, you can bet I'll be back with photos!
